Boston Area Rotisserie Baseball League Expansion Details - 2006

  • Each BARBL team has until (date to be determined) to protect 9 players from the regular Roster and up to 3 players from their MLEOY Roster.
  • Players under contract may be left unprotected if the BARBL Owners desires to do so. Any Contracted player selected by the Expansion Team must be kept on their 2006 keeper list, or they will be penalized per Rule 14 of the Boston Area Rotisserie Baseball League Constitution. The BARBL Owner will receive the player back if he is not selected by the Expansion Team in the expansion draft. The BARBL Owner must also follow Rule 14 for the Auction Draft or be penalized auction money.
  • Expansion team will select a player at the expansion draft, and the BARBL Owner who lost that player will be allowed to pull 2 more of his players back and protect them from the rest of the expansion draft.
  • If the Expansion team selects a MLEOY player, the BARBL Owner who lost the player may pull back the rest of his MLEOY players that were not protected.
  • The Expansion team will be allowed to select no more than 3 players from any one team.
  • The Expansion team will not be allowed to select more than 28 players.
  • The Expansion team will not be restricted by position or salary restrictions.
  • The BARBL Owner will be allowed to retain all players not drafted by the Expansion team.
  • The BARBL Owner may select to drop his 2 minor league players for the expansion draft (this would be the 2 players the BARBL Owner is allowed to drop prior to the normal Roster Freeze Date). The Expansion team will be allowed to select up to 5 Minor league players from this list. However, the Expansion team will have to keep the players on their list with no ability to drop any of them when the Roster Freeze date arrives.
  • On Saturday, March 25, 2006, the BARBL Roster Freeze List is due at 6:00 pm.
  • The players released by the BARBL Owners (those not on the Keeper List) will be submitted to the Expansion Team Owners on Saturday, March 25 at 7:00 pm.
  • The Expansion team will be allowed to keep 1 player on this list of players released. However, players not eligible to be tendered a contract will NOT be allowed to be selected by the Expansion team.
  • The Expansion team has until 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 26, 2006 to submit their keeper list and contracts for 2006.
  • These Rules are considered to be part of the BARBL Constitution.
